My birthday cake--pumpkin with cream cheese icing!
Here I am, or excuse me, here is Cyndi Lauper, making her appearance on Halloween for the second time. (Bowling Green saw her last year and she really wanted to see NYC this year!) She's such a rock star--gotta love it!So let me explain to everyone how Halloween goes down in New York City: it is CRAZY!!! I had to work during the day (unfortunately), but I ended up being very glad I did. As most know, Manhattan has NO house, just apartments. So where to the little children go trick-or-treating? They trick-or-treat at the shops on the main streets! I was always curious and now I know! And it's an all day thing, not just a night thing. It was so nice to be a part of a ritual that I am so familiar with. The children were so adorable in their costumes and even all the parents dressed up for the occasion, too. But it's NYC in the Village on Halloween--EVERYONE dresses up! It was madness! And every Halloween, there is a huge Halloween Parade where hundreds, if not thousands come down to Greenwich Village and participate and/or watch. It lasts for hours and if you get caught in the crowd, you are stuck there! But I love Halloween and I love dressing up, so I loved seeing all of the crazy costumes prancing around the town!
