"Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"
I believe that is the only word that can explain this week I've had! It's been a hodge-podge of events and emotions.
So, one of my roommates is a manager at this juice bar called Elixir. He was in need of someone to work at his West Village store this past week because he was short on staff and in somewhat of a bind. He asked me if I wanted to come in and help, and seeing money being spoon-fed to me, I thought, "Sure, why not. I'll give it a week." Well, that's all I'm giving it--a week. I have become quite aware that food services is NOT for me. AT ALL. It's definitely been interesting and I've learned a lot, but I'm glad it's only a week. Props to everyone in food services, because it is tough!!! Taking orders, making the order right in front of the customer, hoping they are satisfied, all of it. It makes me miss MacKenzie's SOOO much! I had the best job in BG with some great co-workers. I would love to find a flower shop here in NYC, because I know flowers! Or I would work in retail, like the Gap. (My favorite store of all time.) I would rather be folding shirts and sweaters, putting items back neatly in their spots, hour after hour than make juices and smoothies for New Yorkers. And I know some people who would rather do the opposite! It's all a matter of opinion!
Speaking of the Gap, I have been in the store down the street from me several times just staring at this jacket that I fell in love with. Well, on Wednesday, Bronson and I are in Times Square, had some time to kill, and went into the Gap there. And there it was, the jacket, on SALE! I know it's silly that I get so excited about the little things, but I do and I did. And I bought it:) Perfect timing, too, because it's getting chilly here and I don't have much of anything for the fall quite yet. Oh, the small things in life...
That same Gap jacket purchase day, Bronson and I got student rush tickets to go see Mary Poppins for only $30, which for that show is ridiculously incredible. The show was adorable and "practically perfect in every way!" Such a spectacle and so much fun. The best part was I got to go backstage after the show!!! Bronson had a friend whose brother is a swing for the show, so he took us a little backstage tour after the show. That's the second Broadway stage I've gotten to stand on, and hopefully not the last!
Thursday was a bit tougher to get through than Wednesday. Back home, AOII and KA were presenting Montgomery Gentry in concert for a fundraiser for our philanthropies. One of my sorority sisters and dear friend, Ashley Moore, was the opening act with her brother's band. I wanted to be there SO badly, one, to hear Ash perform because she is so great and I am so proud of her, and two, most of the girls I graduated with were coming back to BG for the concert. Kayla called during one of Ashley's songs so I could hear her and tears just started streaming down my face. I was so proud and I was so homesick. That was the first time I got really emotional about being away from home. It's so hard not being with them, but I know they are just a phone call, email, or Facebook message away.
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious-random, hodge-podge, mixed emotions packed few days, but I'm making it through, and looking foward to the next hodge-podge of excitement that comes with living in the Big Apple!

oh, Ashlee....we missed you too. Ashley did a wonderful job and looked stunning on the stage. I'm jealous you got to see Mary Poppins. I really want to see that show. We miss you here in KY but it is good to hear that things are going well in NYC. p.s. Gretal says hello. :)
