Secondly, I'd like to you to reflect with me on the past year of my life. It's been amazing and I'd like to share some of the highlights!
- Graduating from WKU: BIGGIE! It is mind-boggling to think that I was becoming a "big girl" and entering the "real world" and graduating from college. It was bittersweet of course, because like my parents told me, college would be some of the greatest years of my life, and they were. Especially my senior year! I met new people and spent more time with my sorority sisters and had experiences that I will never ever forget!
- Crashing a wedding: I'm sure everyone has seen the movie "Wedding Crashers." It is one of my favorites as well as a favorite with many of my friends and we thought, "WE should crash a wedding!" Well the planning was excellent, the execution not so much. It was Valentine's Day and we went to Louisville where we wouldn't be known. We were caught so it wasn't quite as successful as we'd hoped, but it sure was an adventure and something I know I will NEVER forget. (To hear the story in its entirety, you'll have to call me.) :)
- Spring Break: Carnival Cruise to Puerto Vallarta, El Mazatlan, and Cabo with 7 of my sorority sisters. Best spring break I've ever had! Thanks to one of my sorority sisters, Molly, we made friends with practically everyone on the boat! We also made friends with these awesome guys from Arizona that we all have managed to stay in very close contact with (2 of them came up for the Kentucky Derby this year)! I got to perform on the cruise as well as a "Carnival Legend." I got to be Britney Spears--oh so classy! But now I can say that I've performed on a cruise ship!
- My Best Friend's Wedding: One of my best friends, Paige, got married May 30 to the love of her life and an incredible man, Jason. The wedding was unbelievably gorgeous, and even that is an understatement. She was absolutely beautiful and I was so honored to be a bridesmaid and flattered that she wanted me to sing as well. The last few months gearing up for the wedding was filled with excitement and I was so thrilled to be along side her.
- My Cousin's Wedding: The first of my family was married off this past summer as well--Whitney. Again, I was so honored to be a bridesmaid and be a part of her special day. She married this great guy, Chad, and now we've added another male cousin to the Goodin Clan! It was the most beautiful day and she looked simply stunning. It was so wonderful to have the entire Goodin family there, and let me tell you, the ENTIRE Goodin family took over the dance floor at the reception--so fun!
- Goodin Family Vacation: Charleston, SC. Very rarely does the extended family get-together and go on a family vacation, but this past summer seemed to be the perfect time! It was so great spending an entire week with the family! Even the baby cousins aren't babies anymore and us older cousins had a ball hanging out together. And I saw a first on this trip: my Granddaddy in shorts!!! He wanted to get in the water, so he wore some shorts and looked pretty good! I don't know when the family will be able to do something like that again, but I sure hope so!
- My Big Move: Many, if not all of you, are reading this blog to follow me on my journey moving and living in New York City. I'm about 4 1/2 months in and it still is all surreal to me that I am doing this. I have had the most amazing support from my family and friends and I want to thank you all for that! Everyday living here has provided with some sort of life lesson or given me the knowledge of what I'm looking for out of my life. I am so surprised at how much I already have learned and the things I know that I want! I'm proud of myself for taking this plunge!
- Landing a Gig: Carnegie Hall, here I come!!! (You all should know the story;))
There were many many MANY more events and exciting happenings for me this past year, but I won't share all because some I'm sure would bore you, some would shock you (haha), some you all already know!
I have no idea what this year will bring my way, but I am putting it in God's hands! I'm trying to focus more on the day to day and not trying to look so far into the future (one of my resolutions). Everything that is supposed to happen will happen and it will be for a reason!
I hope everyone is having a great beginning to your New Year! If you are still trying to think up resolutions, I think one should be a trip to NYC.....just saying:)
